Profile
In February 1987 a 45 year old bloke from the city started cutting Red Gum on Chettle Track in the Gunbower Island State Forest for the sawmill in Cohuna. He found the going tough early on and quickly earnt the nickname “Wheelbarra” as those who christened him with this new nickname thought it took my dad Geoffrey Gelletly and my eldest brother Adam Gelletly that long to bring in each load of wood that they must have been doing it in a Wheelbarrow. The first truck we had in the bush was a D series Ford bought second hand along with a second hand chainsaw and off they went. While the original D Series truck has long gone to truck heaven, I thought this truck would look great at the front of our own Red Gum Firewood Mill site to remind us where things started. Oh and 37 and half years later we’d need a bloody big “Wheelbarra” now
